DIGITAL DREAMS

3D PERSPECTIVE

Part of the challenge in making the Nautilus real is investigating how things work. Do the designs actually fit the space? Is there room for all the systems to function? How in the name of Davey Jones can I make that work in such cramped space? Most importantly, does it match how it was in the film?

Most of my work on the Nautilus has been using 2D drafting techniques. Yet now that I’m finishing up this work I’ve become interested in seeing it in full 3D. I wanted to finally see how my guesses and figuring have worked…or not. The idea to construct the whole boat as a 3D dataset was a natural extension of creating the plans.

So, this is what’s going on, eventually, I’ll have a fully detailed interior and exterior of my ‘real’ Nautilus to share. I hope you enjoy a peak inside my playground.
